Why colleges use us

  • Space back before the semester starts.

Labs, closets and storage rooms full of retired computers: cleared in one pickup, one building or the whole campus.

  • Your surplus office stays in charge.

Send us your surplus list the way you keep it (serial, asset tag, model, building) and keep a copy for your records.

  • An answer for finance and your security office.

Secure data destruction, a Certificate of Destruction per batch on request, and a summary report of what happened to the devices.

How a campus pickup works

Plan in spring, pick up in summer. If your labs clear at fiscal year-end or over summer break, put the window you want on the quote and we schedule around it.

Your side, before pickup

  • Clear grant-funded equipment with your research office.
  • Release Apple devices from your organization.
  • Deregister Windows laptops from Autopilot.
  • Deprovision Chromebooks in Google Admin.
  • Have your surplus list ready, if you keep one.
  • Set aside anything still locked, and tell us on the quote.

Our side

  1. We schedule your free pickup and send a packing kit.
  2. We wipe every drive and test each device.
  3. You get a summary report of the devices processed and what happened to them.

Plan on 30 to 45 days from when your devices arrive at our facility.

Where your campus’s devices go

Every drive is wiped. What still has life is rebuilt on our own benches in Florence, Kentucky, and delivered to the nonprofits and schools closing the digital divide. What can’t be saved goes to U.S.-based recyclers.

Refurbished first. Recycled responsibly only when it can’t be saved.

How we wipe drives

A technician’s hands on the keyboard of a refurbished laptop during testing, with more laptops cabled up along the bench.

Is the pickup really free for a college?

Yes. We recover value by giving devices a second life through refurbishment, so standard ITAD carries no charge.

Why pickup is free

How is student, patient and research data removed?

We wipe every drive before a device is refurbished or recycled: Windows and Apple drives to NIST SP 800-88, Chromebooks Powerwashed. Damaged drives are crushed or shredded instead. Back up anything you want to keep first, because after the wipe it’s gone.

How the wiping works

What does the Certificate of Destruction cover?

It covers the Windows and Apple devices in each batch you send, following NIST SP 800-88, and it’s available on request. Chromebooks don’t need one. Keep your surplus list with it for your records.

Do grant-funded devices need sign-off first?

Check with your research office before they go: sponsored equipment can carry disposal terms from the funder. When it’s cleared, we schedule the free pickup.

The before-pickup checklist

Can we buy refurbished for the next lab at the same time?

Yes. Put both on one quote: the lab you’re retiring and the devices you need. Grade A or B, genuine, licensed Windows and a limited warranty on every machine.
